Being an authorized contractor means that we are fully licensed by the state, we are current and up-to-date on all the requirements of training, and are also supplying exceptional customer service with no pending complaints. Given the number of roofs we install in Missouri every year, that's no easy feat. I Think My Roof Needs To Be Replaced, What Should I Be Looking For?

Missouri weather can be tough on a roof, and certain signs indicate a SERIOUS problem. These are listed here:

  • Shingle edges are curled or cupped
  • Bald spots where granules are missing
  • Cracked shingles
  • Missing shingles

Here are the early warning signs that your roof may need replacement soon.

Your roof is at least 10-15 years old. While many roofing materials today are designed to last 20, 30 or more years, that wasn't the case even 10 or 15 years ago. Couple that with the storms we get here in Missouri, and older roofs are lucky to make it 7 to 10 years.

Your neighbors are getting new roofs. Most homes in a given neighborhood were probably built around the same time. This is especially true if you live in a PUD (planned urban development community). So, if you see your neighbors getting a new roof, you might want to consider checking yours.

The roof just looks old and worn. Sometimes, it pretty easy to spot a roof that needs to be replaced. This is especially true with some of your older asphalt shingles that were built years ago and did not have the benefit of today’s modern technology. Newer asphalt shingles are better protected against the sun's harmful UV rays and do not fade as fast – if at all – unlike older shingles. If you roof looks “faded” it might be approaching the end of its useful life.

Moss. Moss can grow on just about any surface that doesn’t get much sunlight – even more so in cool, moist climates. Unfortunately for homeowners, moss growth can be more than just a simple cosmetic issue. Moss loves to grow on roofs. Once mold invades yoru roof it will hold moisture against the roof surface. Overtime – in freezing climates – this will cause damage to your shingles.

Most homeowners will break out a ladder and brush off the moss – BAD IDEA. Brush off the moss and you might be brushing off the granules and damaging the shingle surface. We highly recommend you contact us if you have moss on your roof.

I Was Inspecting My Roof, And I Have These Weird Dark Streaks – What’s Wrong?

I'It’s algae, and it’s nothing to worry about. Unfortunately, some roofing companies in St. Charles, St. Louis, and the surrounding areas may try to convince you it’s something more and to buy a new roof.

You can easily remove the algae with a 50/50 mixture of bleach and water. Make sure you use a low volume / low pressure hose to spray the solution so as not to spray off the shingles’ protective granules. Also, make sure to protect your landscaping, as bleach will kill your plants.

However, if you think your algae problem is large, it could be an indicator of a bigger problem. If you have any doubt at all – CALL US.

Lots Of Roofing Companies In St. Charles Like to TALK About Their Great Warranties – But What’s The Difference… Really?

A lot of roofing companies have what’s known as the “taillights warranty.” That is, the job is guaranteed until you see the contractor’s taillights as he drives away. If you experience a problem after that, you will almost always get the phone-tag runaround.

Not At EZ Home Solutions. EZ Home Solutions has the strongest warranties in the industry— it’s not even close. How can we offer these warranties?
